  • University of Utah internal seed grants
    • Proposal and application is due Feb 15th & Aug 15
    • The Funding Incentive Seed Grant Program, sponsored by the University of Utah Research Foundation, will support only new areas of research for a principal investigator(s).
    • Research that is already supported by other sources will not be approved for funding.
    • Only one proposal per applicant will be accepted in any application cycle. An applicant may not be a principal investigator on more than one proposal during an application period.
    • An applicant may not be a Principal Investigator on one proposal and a co-Investigator on another during the same application period.
    • An applicant may not be a co-Investigator on more than one proposal during the same application period.
    • Applicants must be tenure track faculty in residence at the time of application and be at least 0.75 FTE OR auxiliary faculty of at least 0.75 FTE with a minimum of a two-year residency, in rank, at the University of Utah.
  • Burroughs-Wellcome Fund Clinical Scientist Awards in Translational Research
    • The award is not for new investigators
    • Award provides $750,000 over a period of five years
    • Application is due October 1st
    • Candidates must be nominated by their dean or department chair
    • Candidates must have an M.D. or Ph.D. and hold an appointment in a subspecialty
    • Candidates must be academic investigators at the assistant professor or earlier level
    • Successful candidates in the past have had NIH RO1 funding and independent publications
  • American Heart Association
    • Application Deadline: Jan 23rd
    • Four Grants to Choose From
    • AHA-Fellow-to-Faculty Transition Awards 13 new and 23 continuing awards funded in 2007 New commitments of $7.6 million Provides funding for beginning physician-scientists with outstanding potential for careers in cardiovascular and stroke research.
    • Scientist Development Grants 178 new and 455 continuing awards funded in 2007 New commitments of $46.2 million Supports highly promising beginning scientists in their progress toward independence.
    • Established Investigator Grants 25 new and 112 continuing awards funded in 2007 New commitments of $12.5 million Supports career development of highly promising clinician-scientists and Ph.D.'s who have recently acquired independent status.
    • AHA-Bugher Foundation Awards for the Investigation of Stroke Three new awardees in 2007, with a new commitments of $7.5 million toward developing a network of stroke prevention research centers
  • Arthritis foundation
    • Application Deadline: February 6, 2009
    • Chapter Grants - Some chapters of the Arthritis Foundation offer grants to meet unique research needs in the chapter area. The purpose of these grants programs is to fund highly meritorious and innovative research programs that meet the mission of the Arthritis Foundation within that chapter area. In order to submit an application for this type of grant, a researcher must be responding to a request for proposals from their chapter area and must have the appropriate chapter code in order to process the application on line. The amount and duration, as well as the character, eligibility and purpose of a Chapter Grant, are determined by the chapter issuing the RFP.

  • Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
    • The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's research program is based on the belief that all scientifically sound approaches toward control, prevention, or treatment of leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma should be encouraged on a worldwide basis. The Society supports basic laboratory research and its application to a clinical setting.
