Telehealth and associated technologies have been used in medicine for over 10 years. With advancing technology and increasing availability of broadband services, these technologies are reaching new markets. This presentation will review the telehealth strategy at Intermountain, demonstrate and review data from the eVisit application, and propose a rational for adoption of telehealth training in healthcare practitioner training programs.
Dr Wesley Valdes is the medical director for telehealth services at Intermountain Healthcare. He worked with the NIH to establish the CTSA TSIG for telehealth, telemedicine, and mHealth and served as the groups chairperson for the first year. Dr. Valdes has also served as the chairperson for the State of Illinois Telehealth Task Force as well as medical director for the State HIE program prior to moving to Utah. Dr. Valdes previously taught at Northwestern University's Medical Informatics program and was the Medical Director of Telemedicine at the University of Illinois. Dr. Valdes is an internist with fellowship training in wound care and tissue repair.
