Abstract:
At the end of this presentation, participants will understand the purpose of an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Business Intelligence and Analytics. In the presentation we will review the various analytics roles and responsibilities, the types of software used to support analytics and build a data warehouse, review approaches and strategies when building a data warehouse, and discuss meaningful examples of analytics in Healthcare by looking at case studies from Intermountain Healthcare.
Bio:
Lee Pierce, MIS, is the Director of Business Intelligence and Enterprise Data Warehouse at Intermountain Healthcare and is the Chairman of Intermountain's Enterprise Business Intelligence Council. He is currently accountable for the development of Intermountain's analytics infrastructure and delivery of business intelligence solutions throughout the enterprise. Lee has over 15 years of experience in healthcare IT, specializing in business intelligence, data warehousing, data architecture, and BI/Data Governance. Previous to his current assignment, Lee was accountable for the management and coordination of business intelligence analysts throughout Intermountain, as well as many years as a data warehouse developer creating analytic solutions for clinical quality improvement initiatives. Lee frequently consults with healthcare organizations on BI/EDW strategy and also teaches regularly in Intermountain's Clinical Quality Advanced Training Program. Lee is also chair of the advisory board of the Healthcare Data Warehousing Association, a national non-profit organization with 370+ member healthcare organizations. Lee received a Bachelors of Science from Brigham Young University, and a Master's Degree in Information Systems Management from Utah State University.
