Community Awareness
Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Campaign. The CARMA Center is dedicated to spreading awareness about Atrial Fibrillation and educating the public about the condition and the health risks, such as stroke, that come with the disease. We we are organizing several screening and educational events in other states surrounding Utah, including Idaho, Wyoming, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, California and Colorado throughout March, April and May. We will be offering free screenings for AFib, as well as educational materials about the condition and what the different treatment options are. Additionally, we will provide resources about where and how to seek treatment in each area as well as how to access the cutting edge research and treatment facilities at the University of Utah. Click for a calendar of screenning dates.
Into the Heart of the Alps for Atrial Fibrillation Awareness. This summer, Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Survivor Michele Straube, is embarking on an exciting adventure to raise awareness of this common and debilitating heart disease. Her goal is to raise awareness of AFib and to help raise funds for researchers to develop better AFib treatments. Michele will hike the 1,500 mile Via Alpina over the course of the next four summers, starting in Monaco and ending in Slovenia. Her journey is a platform for promoting AFib education and fundraising opportunities for AFib Research. Click for details and to follow Michele's blog!
