Rami M. Shorti

Rami M. Shorti is currently a final year PhD candidate at the University of Utah and a Lead Biomechanical Engineer at Intermountain Healthcare's Transformation Lab. His PhD research emphasis is in Biomechanical Engineering specifically lower limb Biomechanics and Rehabilitation. Rami's experience and education has been focused on User-Centric Design and was strengthened through the fulfillment of a Fellowship in Ergonomics and Human Factors. During his fellowship Rami was able to work in an interdisciplinary environment and study various topics (Clinical, Engineering, Statistics, and Epidemiology). Prior to pursuing a PhD, Rami earned a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering (Emphasis in Instrumentation and Design) from Brigham Young University in 2006. Rami worked professionally as a Mechanical Design Engineer and then pursued and received his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Utah with emphasis on Ergonomics and Human Factors. Rami consulted for several local companies and start-up companies and his involvement included R&D, market research, and grant proposal write-up through SBIR program and other entities. Rami has also been involved in academia through teaching several engineering coursework at the University of Utah and as an adjunct faculty member at the SLCC. Rami enjoys teaching, learning, inventing, and looks for opportunities to help others.
