Our Community Partners

Healthy Start

At University of Utah Health, our mission is to advance the health of our communities. As an academic health center, our purpose is to make people’s lives better. Those are ambitious goals—impossible to achieve alone. That’s because the health of individuals is not solely determined by what happens inside our clinics, hospitals, research labs, and classrooms. Rather, it’s connected to a whole host of factors, including the neighborhood we live in, the air we breathe, the money we make, the school we attend, and the color of our skin.

As we shape a new strategic vision for University of Utah Health, the needs of our community are guiding our direction. While maintaining a focus on excellence in patient care, education, and research, we also believe it’s essential to add community health as a fourth pillar of our mission and partner with populations to improve quality of life across Utah and the region.

Our Campus Partners

University of Utah Health aspires to advance knowledge through cross-campus collaborations that facilitate and support creative approaches to society’s biggest challenges and most pressing problems, from economic inequality to opioid addiction to health care disparities and climate change.

The U is rare among its peers in the co-location of a comprehensive research university and a vibrant academic medical center, which positions it to lead scientific research and higher education innovation. The One U vision also ensures the smart use of resources while maintaining value and quality.

Healthy Start

At University of Utah Health, we believe that community engagement is the foundation of building a vibrant and thriving society. As part of the university, the students and faculty who make up our six schools and colleges put that commitment into action.

Working with residents and community leaders to identify priorities, our Colleges of Health, Nursing, and Pharmacy, along with the School of Dentistry, the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine, and the Eccles Health Sciences Library, translate these beliefs into service, partnerships, and hyperlocal connections to and engagement with our communities.
