The Future Of Academic Research Looks Bright

Recently at one of our Town Halls, we were asked about how we are balancing the tightening fiscal realities of research funding while ensuring that scientific discovery at the University of Utah continues to flourish. This is a critically important question to me, to Dean Li, our Vice-Dean for Research and Chief Scientific Officer, and to the entire leadership team. In challenging times like these, the efforts of administration can set the stage for an organization¿s success. Utah Citizenship And A Remarkable Legislative Process

On January 28 of this year, Sen. John Valentine (Utah County) presented his bill, Senate Bill 42 to the Senate Education Committee. His proposal establishes a law allowing the University of Utah¿s School of Medicine to expand its class size from 82 to 122 over 3 years, with an ongoing allocation of $10m per year from the state.
